Long Term Substitute at TAPA: Trinity Academy for the Performing Arts | Providence, RI TAPA: Trinity Academy for the Performing Arts, an academically-rigorous public charter school for the arts, seeks a long term sub to cover a middle grades math support class beginning in February. The ideal candidate has experience working with urban middle grades students, and following curriculum. TAPA's anti-oppression creative community is enriched by the cultural, religious, racial, ethnic, and linguistic diversity of our neurodiverse families, students, and employees. Demographically, nearly all members of the TAPA student body are people of color, predominantly Latinx, with many students speaking both English and Spanish in their homes. Almost half of TAPAs student body identify as members of the LGBTQ community. It is an organizational priority for TAPA to hire educators and other staff members who have cultural commonalities with our students and families. The Lower School Math Interventionist teaches five classes, each with approximately 9-11 students. They will work with small groups to close math gaps developed throughout previous years. Students in these classes receive double blocks of math to ensure that they are getting grade level instruction supported by scaffolding and remediation in skills that students may be struggling with.At TAPA, Math is taught utilizing academic curricula that meets the EdReport Green Standard. However, we know that curricula today are not comprehensive in regards to diverse student identities, interests, and culturally responsive pedagogy. Therefore, educators are provided the opportunity to blend the arts with their content areas, while embedding Diversity, Equity, and Inclusion initiatives into their everyday work.At TAPA, the arts are deeply embedded into the core of interdisciplinary learning. TAPA prepares students to successfully meet or exceed Rhode Islands graduation requirements, and perform at (or above) grade level on all state and local assessments. TAPA meets each students individual academic needs using assessment data and continuous feedback, while providing clear academic, social, and artistic expectations. At its core, TAPA is a student-centered, caring community that fosters leadership, intellect, self confidence, and responsibility. Inclusion, equity, social justice, and diversity frameworks are core components of every course. Racial and ethnic minorities and individuals with disabilities, as well as candidates from diverse backgrounds and with diverse experiences, particularly related to social justice education and/or initiatives, are strongly encouraged to apply.
