Contingent upon funding
Temporary teaching position - fill a long term vacancy through the end of 21/22 school year.
Under direction of the school principal and/or appropriate supervisor, the LTS (Long Term Substitute) will gain essential and meaningful teaching experience. Excellent performance in this capacity will position a teacher well to compete for permanent teaching positions in Providence Schools and elsewhere.
Compensation and benefits for this position are equal to the compensation and benefits of a regular teacher including salary according to the Providence teacher salary scale (including during school vacation) on a step determined by previous teaching experience (credit given for experience in accredited schools and/or in a certified capacity). Other benefits include paid sick days, generous health benefits, and paid professional development.

The math coach maintains a positive, caring, orderly, and supportive learning culture and environment for the diverse student population of PPSD. Critical to this responsibility, the coach creates a professional learning community focused on analyzing student data that informs the school improvement plan while providing instructional leadership through coaching, observation, and feedback to close achievement gaps and improve student outcomes. The math coach supports teachers in providing instructional strategies that provide necessary scaffolding to improve math skills, conceptual knowledge and problem solving for all students Coaching occurs through professional development, side-by-side planning and coaching, demonstration lessons, and making use of critical data to meet individual student's needs. The math coach promotes trusting, mutually respectful, and professional relationships in the school community by maintaining strong communication and transparency of expectations.
Additionally, math coach will:
Participate in an annual review process to assess the overall effectiveness of the performance in the math coach role in the areas of responsibilities outlined below.

- Serving as an instructional coach to math department membersConducting cycles of observation and feedback for everyone in their department
- Conduct short, non-evaluative cycles of observation, feedback, and support for each member of their departmentSupport teachers in their department by acting as a coach and thought partner to support action steps for ongoing improvement of instructional practice

Qualifications
- Bachelor's Degree in math and/or math certificationBA in applicable field from accredited college or universityMaster's degree in the content area or curriculum and instruction (Preferred)National Board Certification in an area related to math(preferred)Experience as an Instructional Coach (preferred)Up-to-Date on Current Research, Regulations and National Trends related to math instructionMinimum of 3 years of teaching in an urban setting (preferred)Three (3) years successful teaching experience in an urban school district (Preferred)Previous participation in core-curriculum development work (Preferred)Demonstrated knowledge of content area standards and research-based teaching practicesDemonstrated ability to work collaboratively with colleagues, administrators, and parent/community membersDemonstrated communication and group facilitation skillsDemonstrated ability to design and deliver professional developmentKnowledge of adult learning theory
