Role Description

The IGT Legal Department is seeking a highly skilled and motivated attorney who will support its growing online gaming business. The position involves providing general commercial legal support and addressing a spectrum of complex legal, business and strategic issues, with a focus on review, negotiation, and drafting a wide range of B2B commercial contracts, including technology supply and license agreements, partner agreements and vendor agreements for our US PlayDigital business unit.

As part of the IGT Legal Department (which comprises approximately 60 people globally), you will provide legal support for the business teams operating in the digital gaming sector in the US, Canada and Latin America. You will work in a dynamic, collaborative, and high-performance environment, helping IGT manage a wide range of legal and business challenges.

The PlayDigital Legal Team consists of lawyers across offices in the UK and US who support IGT’s digital business globally. This position will report directly to the Vice President and Deputy General Counsel, located in the UK. This role includes the management of a paralegal located in the US.

Principal Responsibilities

  • Work in a dynamic environment in collaboration with business partners, customers and other lawyers within the group to provide pragmatic commercial advice.
  • Work directly with managers in the business teams, providing day-to-day commercial contracts advice and strategic support.
  • Draft, review, negotiate and interpret a wide variety of B2B contracts with customers and partners for the supply and licensing of digital products, systems and game content.
  • Identify and advise internal clients on legal risks, mitigation, pre-litigation disputes and resolving a wide variety of issues that arise in existing commercial relationships.
  • Assist in the management of external legal counsel and development of other members of the team, including managing one paralegal working in the PlayDigital legal team.
  • Contributing to global legal team projects and strategic objectives.

  • Juris Doctorate with admission to at least one State bar.
  • 8-12 years as a practicing attorney, including contract law experience working at a top-tier law firm and/or in-house legal department (as a guide only; we will consider all candidates that demonstrate they meet our key requirements regardless of experience)
  • Legal areas of expertise: Contract/Commercial law, Technology and Intellectual Property (online gaming experience desirable but not essential).
  • Experience in drafting and negotiating commercial contracts.
  • Self-motivated team player with ability to multi-task in a fast-paced entrepreneurial environment with a solution-oriented approach to legal issues.
  • Customer-oriented interpersonal skills and ability to work closely with large cross-functional teams (including representatives from finance, regulatory/compliance, operations and People & Transformation (HR)).
  • Ability to communicate legal concepts and issues effectively to internal business clients at all levels of the organisation and excellent written skills.
